Almost everything is confirmed now and flyers and posters are almost ready to print. We’ll be uploading the promotional material soon but in the meantime here is some information about the event to satisfy your curiosity:
The event will take place on Sunday the 11th of October at the Forest Fields Community Centre on Sturton Street from midday to 4p.m.
Artists exhibiting on the day are as follows:
Anna Roebuck: Anna aims to create desirable objects from everyday waste. Anna’s designs are created using recycled plastic bags from a transformation technique that has developed over the last 8 years.
Shamila Chady: Shamila transforms discarded objects into works of art in an effort to inspire others to realise the potential for beauty in the things we thoughtlessly throw away and to encourage the use of available materials as an alternative to unnecessary consumption.
Jenna Pink: Jenna aims to question the disposable nature of consumerist society. We are told to buy, to use and then to throw away. We then are told to buy again. Many useful items are bagged up and sent to a landfill without much thought. Jenna’s work wishes to demonstrate the hidden beauty that is inside that old newspaper, that magazine you bought last week and that pile of “junk” that is left ready for the bin men after your annual clear out.
Vanessa Jarvis: Vanessa’s business ‘hapi-ness’ makes happy things for people, from a range of colourful soft toys suitable for all ages to happy illustrations and wearable items. Everything Vanessa makes is an original creation made completely by hand, which tends to add some quirky character into her creations, and means you will never find the same thing twice!
Clare Bull: Clare Bull formed Recyclerbull Arts 6 years ago and has being doing environmental community arts projects for about 8 years. Working exclusively with reclaimed materials, Clare is passionate about skill sharing of crafts techniques, specialising in basket weaving and bookbinding. Clare is available for workshops, demonstrations, talks and exhibitions especially in and around Nottingham.
Rose Hart: Rose mostly focuses on making things from textiles; mainly soft toys, bags, purses etc. Rose uses a lot of recycled materials like old clothes and buttons, although not all my creations are completely recycled.
Linda Mort: Linda considers herself to be an ‘Artist & Maker’. Linda trained as a painter, but also loves making things out of what ever she can find around,which at the moment is simple jewelery,using vintage buttons, greetings cards & knitted; felted items, such as bags & soft toys.
Carla Harris-Marsh: Carla makes flowers from coke cans, wire and vintage buttons as well as creating individual and original bowls from unwanted, reclaimed vinyl.
Sally Cotterill: Sally creates bright and bold, handcrafted textile items including; handbags, covered books, brooches, cards, holders and framed pictures. Wherever possible recycled and reclaimed materials are used.
There will also be free workshops and activities for children.
For one of these workshops booking is essential:
1 – 3pm Basket weaving from plastic bags with Clare Bull.

I am planning to hold a fair in Nottingham around early October (date tbc) to showcase examples of what can be made by re-using ‘unwanted’ materials.
I am looking for people to help with
* Exhibiting or selling recycled arts or crafts on the day
* Running workshops
* Planning the event
* Publicising the event
* Or, simply lending a hand on the day!
If you’d like to be involved, please get in touch!
